Unable to bear the separation from his wife
who is away across the river, Tulsidas/Kalidasa
sets out on a stormy night to meet her.
Upon enquiry of how he made the journey,
he tells her about a raft and a rope that
he believed she had organized for him.

Surprised they set out to inspect. The raft turns
out to be a dead body floating on the river and
the rope a venomous snake. She thus makes
him realize that his basal desires have blinded
him and urges him to overcome these and
move ahead in life.
