Aahankar or ego is the story of a donkey,
whose position in life is elevated once a year.
At this time, the idol from the temple
is carried around the village on the donkeys’
back for all to worship. As people come in
large numbers and greet the procession
with flowers and offerings, the donkey believes
that they are saluting his greatness.

It then jumps and kicks with joy causing
the idol to fall and break.

The outraged villagers beat up the donkey.
The respect you command is relative to the
position you occupy and if you kick that off,
you only have yourself and your inflated
ego to blame.
